Description:
An organization operating in a complex and fast-paced environment is seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to support the well-being of staff, visitors, and contractors. The successful candidate will help implement safety policies, conduct risk assessments, and promote a positive safety culture across a wide range of operational areas. This role is key to ensuring ongoing compliance and supporting a safe and efficient workplace.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Health and Safety Compliance:

Support compliance with relevant national and international health and safety legislation.

Monitor adherence to internal safety procedures across multiple departments.

Assist in developing and reviewing health and safety policies and systems.

Collaborate with stakeholders and external bodies to maintain high safety standards.

2. Risk Assessment and Incident Management:

Conduct regular safety inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance.

Complete and review risk assessments.

Support investigations into incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and suggesting improvements.

3. Training and Safety Awareness:

Deliver inductions and training on safe work practices, PPE use, and emergency response.

Organize and participate in emergency drills and preparedness activities.

Promote continuous awareness and engagement with safety initiatives among all teams.

4. Monitoring and Auditing:

Carry out routine safety audits and inspections.

Track safety metrics such as incident rates and hazard reports.

Ensure corrective actions are implemented and followed through.

5. Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain up-to-date records on inspections, incidents, and training.

Prepare regular reports for internal review and regulatory purposes.

Ensure safety documentation is accurate, accessible, and audit-ready.

6. General Support:

Provide administrative and operational support to the safety team.

Monitor the condition and availability of safety equipment and signage.

Contribute to continuous improvement in safety processes and culture.

Stay informed about current best practices and legal updates.


Candidate Requirements:

2–3 years of relevant experience in a health and safety role (experience in high-risk or regulated environments is advantageous).

Third-level qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related discipline preferred.

Strong working knowledge of applicable safety regulations and standards.

Experience in conducting risk assessments and managing safety compliance.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

High attention to detail and a proactive mindset.

Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
