Design Manager / Senior Coordinating Engineer – Athlone (Pharma Project)

Our client, a privately owned Tier 1 contractor renowned for delivering high-tech, pharmaceutical and complex engineering projects, is seeking a Design Manager (or Senior Coordinating Engineer) for a major pharmaceutical development in Athlone.

This is a key role within a project team known for technical excellence and collaborative working, offering long-term career progression on some of Ireland’s most advanced builds.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design packages from concept to installation

• Oversee design deliverables, ensuring all reviews, submittals and approvals are completed on time

• Drive compliance with pharmaceutical, cleanroom and regulatory standards

• Manage design risk, sequencing and constructability in partnership with the project management team

• Engage effectively with consultants, subcontractors, specialist vendors and client representatives

• Provide technical leadership on design queries, quality matters and interface resolution

Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience in design management, design coordination or engineering leadership

• Strong understanding of multidisciplinary design workflows (architectural, structural, MEP)

• Experience on pharma, industrial or high-tech projects is a strong advantage

• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
