Project Engineer- Sligo

Are you an engineer ready to step into a project manager role and work on automation projects worldwide?
We are seeking a motivated, hands-on Project Engineer with an electrical or automation background to join a growing, dynamic team. You’ll lead projects through the full lifecycle from design and PLC programming to commissioning and client hand over with the opportunity to travel worldwide. Our client is a locally owned company with a rapidly growing presence both nationally and internationally.

Headquartered just 5 minutes outside Sligo town, they provide engineering and automation solutions to industries including Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing, Automotive, and Medical Devices.

With a strong pipeline of work ranging from smaller bespoke builds to large-scale projects, and a significant increase in demand, they are continuing to expand making this an excellent time to join a busy and growing team.

The Role

  • Design, program, and support electrical and automation systems for machine builds, including PLCs, sensors, and control interfaces for conveyors, vision systems, and robotics across diverse industries
  • PLC programming, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Manage on-site installation, commissioning, and client support
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on time and within scope
  • Provide technical support and documentation throughout the full project lifecycle

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–4 years’ experience in a Project Engineer or Automation Engineer role
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field
  • Strong PLC programming experience (Siemens preferred; Allen Bradley also considered)
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software
