Senior Coordinating Engineer - Relocate to Belgium 

Overview

The successful candidate will be a highly organised and methodical professional with a proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, drive technical solutions, and maintain clear communication across all project stakeholders. This role requires a strong on-site presence and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues before they impact programme delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Coordination & Design Management

  • Lead the coordination of architectural, structural, and MEP design information
  • Review drawings, specifications, and BIM models to ensure accuracy, consistency, and buildability
  • Manage the timely flow of design information in line with the project programme
  • Chair and contribute to coordination meetings and technical workshops
  • Oversee the review and approval of all technical submittals

Stakeholder & Team Management

  • Act as the primary interface between site teams, design teams, subcontractors, and client representatives
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with consultants and project stakeholders
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and site staff
  • Coordinate specialist subcontractors to ensure alignment with design intent

Programme & Project Delivery

  • Work closely with the Project Manager and planning team to align technical deliverables with the construction programme
  • Identify and mitigate risks, clashes, and potential delays
  • Monitor design progress and escalate any deviations from agreed timelines

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all works meet project specifications, Irish Building Regulations, and relevant industry standards
  • Support on-site quality inspections and ensure technical compliance
  • Assist with BCAR processes, including documentation and certification

Health & Safety

  • Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture on site
  • Ensure design solutions incorporate safe construction methodologies
  • Support the implementation of site safety procedures and risk assessments

Commercial Awareness

  • Contribute to value engineering initiatives to optimise cost and efficiency
  • Understand and manage the commercial impact of design decisions
  • Assist in the management of variations arising from design changes

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
  • 5–10+ years’ experience in a similar role with a main contractor or on large-scale construction projects
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex residential, commercial, or mixed-use developments
  • Strong technical knowledge across structural, architectural, and MEP disciplines
  • Excellent coordination, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Strong communication and leadership capabilities
