Overview

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the design process, ensuring high-quality project delivery, and fostering collaboration between internal teams, consultants, and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coordinate, and facilitate design team and departmental meetings.
  • Manage the delivery of high-quality design outputs in line with project requirements, standards, and design procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external consultants to achieve project objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their requirements and expectations are met throughout the design process.
  • Delegate design tasks effectively and review completed work to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Develop innovative design solutions and communicate concepts clearly to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring design budgets to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Mentor, coach, and support design team members, promoting continuous professional development.
  • Deliver training and share best practice on design developments, software, standards, and procedures.
  • Motivate and support both internal and external design teams to achieve project milestones.
  • Ensure the timely production of coordinated, accurate, and high-quality drawings and design documentation.
  • Work with clients, project managers, consultants, and design teams to develop and maintain design delivery programmes.

Experience

  • Minimum of seven years' experience in a design management, architectural, engineering, or modular construction environment.
  • Experience working within main contracting, specialist contracting, modular construction, or design consultancy sectors.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and coordinating multiple concurrent projects is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Level 7 qualification (or equivalent) in Architectural Technology, Civil or Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and time management abilities.
  • High level of attention to detail and problem-solving capability.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering projects to programme and quality standards.
  • Creative approach to design and continuous improvement.
